It’s back! The second season of God’s Greatest Hits premieres March 22 at 10:30pm on VisionTV. The new season features five more episodes of beautiful, soulful and stirring music. We travel to England, Ireland, New Orleans and across Canada to explore some of the most popular and enduring spiritual music of all time with performances by The Priests, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Sarah Harmer, The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Tony McManus, Rebirth Brass Band, The Sojourners, Rick Wakeman and many more. In 2010, we filmed the 10th Banff International String Quartet Competition. During our time there, we made videos of each of the nine competing quartets performing a piece of their choice. The numbers are in and God’s Greatest Hits is, well, a hit! The first episode was the fifth highest rated show on the network – an unprecedented start for a new original series. This 5-part, half-hour series explores some of the most beautiful and most famous spiritual music of all time, and features performances by Bobby McFerrin, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Dione Taylor, Judy Collins, The Priests, The Nathaniel Dett Chorale and many more. Director Joel Goldberg (Samba Squad: Drums We Love) and cinematographer Kiarash Sadigh (God’s Greatest Hits, Sex + Religion) went on the road with singer/songwriter Bruce Cockburn while he recorded his solo live album Slice ‘O Life. What they came back with is a moving portrait of one one of the most thoughtful and influential musicians of our time. Bruce Cockburn: Pacing the Cage features appearances by Bono, Sarah Harmer, Michael Ondaatje, Sen. Romeo Dallaire, Colin Linden and, of course, Bruce Cockburn performing many of his most-loved songs. Premieres May 4th at 10pm on VisionTV.

After almost ten years at 181 Carlaw, Riddle Films has moved to a new home. We are now located at 229 Greenwood Avenue, Toronto ON M4L 2R4. Although we are sad to say good-bye to our old digs, we are very excited to be in the new place! If we can only figure out how to put our desks back together, we’ll be up and running in no time.
Shooting has begun for God’s Greatest Hits. First up was the unique version of Amazing Grace by The Blind Boys of Alabama. The intrepid team of Liam Romalis, Kiarash Sadigh, Gary Vaughan and the incomparable Mako Funasaka captured the series’s first images in Port Credit, right here in the GTA. Thanks to the Southside Shuffle Festival for their generous help.
